In the city we have close contacts with the City Council, and host several civic services, including amongst others the Chevin Sermon, which traditionally takes place on the second Sunday of October, and the service of remembrance and reconciliation on Remembrance Sunday.
Upcoming Special Services
The Rt. Rev’d Dr. Geoffrey Rowell, assistant bishop in the diocese of Chichester and formerly Bishop in Europe 2001-2013, will deliver the Remembrance Sunday address at Great St Mary’s on November 13 at the service of remembrance and reconciliation at 10.50am. We welcome the Lady Mair, Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire; Sir David Arculua, High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire; Dame Fiona Reynolds, DBE, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University; Councillor Marie Louise Holland, Deputy Mayor of Cambridge, as well as representatives of the armed forces, the police force, the University, the City of Cambridge and many other organisations. The choir of Great St Mary’s is conducted and the organ played by the Director of Music, Samuel Hayes and the trumpeter is John Parry.
