Welcome to Cambridge

The City of Cambridge is located in the East of England, 50 miles north of London. It is well served by road and rail links, has its own airport and is within easy distance of the major London airports.

Getting to Great St Mary’s

Great St Mary’s is located right in the heart of Cambridge — in fact, all distances in Cambridge are measured from our front door. You can find us on Google Maps. We are hard to miss; we’re the big church between Market Square and the University Senate House.

Train: There is a regular service to Cambridge from London King’s Cross and Liverpool Street stations. From the train station you can catch a taxi, or any bus headed to the City Centre (especially the Citi 1, Citi 3 or Citi 7).

Bus: The central drop-off point for bus services is at the city bus station on Drummer Street, a five minute walk from the church.

Coach trips: If you are arriving by coach, there is coach parking on Trumpington Road by the Fitzwilliam Museum, on Chesterton Road, or on Queens Road. All of these are a short walk from Great St Mary’s .  Download a map for coach drivers here.

Car:  Very limited parking is available for visitors on University and College sites and in the City as a whole. Parking within the City is very limited, so please use Park & Ride sites instead of bringing your car into the centre if you possibly can.

Air:  The closest airport offering scheduled flights is London Stansted Airport, 30 miles from Cambridge.  A regular bus service and a direct train service run from Stansted to the City. Cambridge International Airport makes Cambridge easily accessible for conference delegation charter flights from Europe and the US Eastern Seaboard.  For more information about the services offered at Cambridge International Airport please visit their website.
